The United Architects of the Philippines- British Columbia (UAP-BC) Chapter was formally welcomed into the UAP family as the 131st chapter in a chartering ceremony held last October 15, 2011 at the Kentizen Fusion Lounge Restaurant in Vancouver BC Canada.

UAP National President Ramon S. Mendoza and Consul General Jose A.P. Ampeso of the Philippine Consulate in Vancouver headed the guests list who graced the affair. Mr. Tom “Tatay” Avendano, CEO of the Multicultural Helping House Society and other community leaders in the Filipino-Canadian community were also present to witness the chartering of the professional group.

Consul General Jose A.P. Ampeso encouraged the group to reach out fellow professionals in BC and at the same time help our less-privelege ‘kababayans’ in our country. He led the induction of the UAP-BC Chapter officers and directors.

In an elaborate and solemn ceremony, UAP National President Arch. Ramon Mendoza presented to UAP-BC Charter President Joe Larano the Charter Certificate  bearing the names of 38 charter members. The presentation of the certificate makes UAP BC Chapter as the 131st chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines. In a symbolic gesture of  recognition of the UAP-BC Chapter, the UAP National President Arch. Ramon S. Mendoza presented likewise the Philippine and UAP flags, the UAP gavel and the UAP-BC Chapter official banner to its charter President Joe Larano.

In his inaugural address, Arch. Joe Larano extolled the strong commitment made by every members to make UAP-BC Chapter a reality. He emphasized the three major objectives and goals that will become the central focal point of the chapter’s existence. He urged members to come forward and share their talents and resources to benefit other members. In his speech, Arch. Joe Larano urged the membership to  support the UAP national programs.

UAP National Arch. President Ramon S. Mendoza, in his message congratulated the UAP-BC Chapter and challenged them to continue to unite themselves in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the chapter. He stressed the current motto, “Redefining Service to Membership, Key to Service-Oriented Architecture”  in sustaining UAP aims.

 Anyone who join before the Chartering ceremony can still becomes a Charter member of UAP BC Chapter and will earn the distinction of being called as “Charter Member”. The definition of the word is “one of the original members when an organization was founded”. In other word, if you are one of these members – you are a founding member.

From day one on Chartering day and through the coming years, your names will be forever etched in the history of UAP BC Chapter. To reinforce and commemorate your Charter Membership, a Charter Certificate will be presented to you during the Chartering and Induction Ceremony on October 15, 2011 before the presence of our honored guests, acquaintances, peers and loved ones. What a glorious experience, indeed!

We are pleased to inform you that the Chartering of UAP BC Chapter & Induction of its Officers and Members is to be held on October 15, 2011 at 12:00 noon with buffet lunch at Kentizen Restaurant in Vancouver.

This is an inaugural event for the UAP BC Chapter and a special day for everyone of us. We are requesting every members to be present so that all of us can be officially inducted as officers and members of UAP BC Chapter. You can invite your friends and family members to witness this affair.

We will also be publishing a souvenir magazine to record and highlight this event. To sustain the publishing cost and to raise funds for our other endeavors we are inviting you and your friends to post and advertise your personal greetings, ads, products and services in this magazine for a very reasonble fee. In a week time further details of this event will be emailed to you or posted in our Facebook page.

To all UAP BC Chapter members,

• Chartering and Officers & Members Induction ceremony (in October). Announcement to be made on our picnic day.
• We are still accepting new membership registration.
• In order to effectively function well and better serve the membership, it was approved the leaderships to drop the interim basis and act on a regular capacity.
• Limited fund-raising to be planned to sustain our programs and activities.
• UAP BC Chapter to be registered and incorporated as a non profit organization under BC provincial statute and later with federal Canada Revenue Agency.
• Adopting and proposing other services beneficial to the general membership.

The idea of forming the UAP BC Chapter has been going on for the past few years now and has been strengthened by the clamour of increasing numbers of Filipino immigrants architects who are arriving to British Columbia each year.   Joe Larano initiated the formation of the chapter by organizing the core group of the chapter in the latter part of 2010. In November 2010,  he visited UAP National Office in Quezon City Philippines to personally inquire the  possible formation of UAP British Columbia. In the following month, he was joined by Caesar Pascual and eventually in January 2011 Melvin Castro,  Jasby Barredo, Felix Tan and Edna Lim joined in the initiative. The official group formation was launched last January 22, 2011 during the Membership Registration and Information meeting held in Richmond BC Canada. The event was attended by 32 Philippine-registered architects who are willing to become members of the chapter. Charter members unanimously approved and affirmed Resolution No. 001, resolution creating the UAP British Columbia Chapter.

UAP BC Chapter is being supported by the UAP Ontario Chapter as its endorser and sponsor through its Board Resolution which was sent to the UAP National Office.
The chapter is currently awaiting the  recognition and approval from the National Board of Directors, UAP National Office QC, Philippines.

Revit is a Building Information Modeling software for Microsoft Windows, developed by Autodesk. It allows the user to design with both parametric 3D modeling and 2D drafting elements. Building Information Modeling is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) paradigm that employs intelligent 3D objects to represent real physical building components such as walls and doors.
